Colt new CBX Tac Hunter, a lightweight all-rounder bolt-action rifle based on the CZ 600 action, available in two calibers and two barrel lengths and with a sturdy polymer stock

Announced last month and finally made available on the US market on December 12, the Colt CBX Tac Hunter rifle, available in .308 Winchester and 6,5 Creedmoor is the second model in Colt's CBX line of bolt-action rifles to be introduced in 2023.

Just like the previous entry in the series – the CBX Precision Rifle System, launched in January at the 2023 SHOT Show – the CBX Tac Hunter is based on the CZ 600 action, but in lieu of an MDT aluminum chassis system for long-range precision shooting, here we have a lightweight yet sturdy composite stock, ideal for a successful hunting trip even in the harshest conditions and climates.

Colt's CBX Tac Hunter is available with Sporter-profile, button-rifled, nitride black finished barrel in two lengths: 51 cm / 20" for .308 Winchester and 56 cm / 22" for 6.5 Creedmoor. Both sport a 1:10" twist rate and a 9/16-24 UNEF thread at the muzzle, covered by a screw-on thread protector, allowing the use of accessories such as muzzle brakes, compensators, flash hiders, or sound suppressors (where legal).

The CZ 600 action of the Colt CBX Tac Hunter rifle, with its 60-degrees bolt throw, is made to accept Remington 700-pattern scope mounts on #8-40 threads. The Colt CBX Tac Hunter rifle features a two-position top tang safety at quick and convenient thumb reach, and an ambidextrous release catch for the AICS-pattern five-rounds detachable magazine it feeds from.

The captivating, modern light gray composite stock features a vertical pistol grip, aggressive slip-proof checkering on all contact surfaces, a set of sling swivel studs, a bipod attachment point, and is issued with three spacers that allow the length of pull to be adjusted to three different levels. The trigger weight is also manually adjustable from 1,1 kilograms (2.5 lbs) to 2,2 kilograms (5 lbs).

Standing at approximately one meter (39.75") in overall length and weighing in at 2,9 to 3,2 kilograms (6.5 to 7.2 lbs) depending on the caliber and barrel length, the Colt CBX Tac Hunter bolt-action rifle is sold on the US market at a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $999.00.
