Designed with power and practicality in mind, John M. Browning was the innovative mind behind the first sporting rifle made to handle the new high-velocity, smokeless powder ammunition introduced in the late 19th century.

With its ease of operation, quick handling, and chambering for one of the most popular hunting cartridges, the 30-30 Winchester, the Model 1894 is a classic design that is just as dependable and revered today since its introduction in 1894.

The Model 1894 was a combination of the best features of all previous Winchesters and the cartridges Winchester developed for the action.

No repeating rifle system ever made will appeal to the eye and understanding of the shooter as this will. It’s strong, light and elegant. We can say it’s the lightest gun ever made that handles such a high-powered cartridge. This rifle is a hard, accurate shooter and a strong and reliable firearm.

After the introduction of the Carbine and Rifle versions in the past two years, the Uberti 1894 Sporting Rifle Checkered Pistol Grip is a new variant with a pistol grip stock that was quite usual in target shooting versions.

The new Uberti 1894 Sporting Rifle Checkered Pistol Grip features adjustable rear and front open sights, a blued barrel and buttstock plate, case hardened receiver and loading lever, and an oil finished walnut stock with checkered pistol grip.

Like the standard 24 ¼” barrel rifle version, this new model sports an octagonal barrel, but 26” long, which makes the overall weight increase a little bit.

As well as the standard rifle version, this model also is chambered for the traditional .30-30 Winchester and the .38-55 Winchester cartridges: this one last in particular very appropriate for this specific rifle configuration.
