Ruger Firearms announces a new addition to their vast line of sporting, hunting, and defensive firearms chambered in 5.7x28mm: after the Ruger-5.7 pistol, first showcased at the 2020 edition of SHOT Show, and the Ruger LC Carbine introduced back in August 2020, now it's time for the Ruger LC Charger semi-automatic pistol, a shorter-sized version of the LC Carbine, which may very well be considered the closest thing to a civilian Heckler & Koch MP7 we have today.

The Ruger LC Charger is built around the same CNC-machined, Type III hard-anodized, black lightweight aluminum receiver of the Ruger LC Carbine, and the same grip and trigger assembly of the Ruger-5.7 pistol, and feeds through the same double-stack 20-rounds magazines used by both of the above.

The Ruger LC Charger offers impressive ergonomics, with an ambidextrous 1911-type manual safety, a reversible charging handle, ergonomic bolt release and extended magazine release latch.

The barrel of the Ruger LC Charger pistol is 261 mm / 10.30" long overall, and features a full black outer nitride finish, eight right-handed grooves, a 1:9" twist rate and a ½x28 TPI thread at the muzzle, covered by a thread protector, allowing the use of flash hiders, muzzle brakes, or sound suppressors.

The handguard is a short-sized variant of the design used by the Ruger LC Carbine; it is CNC-machined out of lightweight aluminum alloy, hard-anodized in black, and features a set of M-LOK slots on both sides and at the bottom, providing plenty of room for accessory rail segments.

A full-length MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny rail for optics or flip-up iron sights runs all through the top of the pistol; another, short rail segment is machined at the rear of the receiver should you want to attach a stock and SBR it (if allowed by local laws and regulations). Alternatively, the Ruger LC Charger features three QD sling swivel slots, once again at the rear of the receiver.

The Ruger LC Charger pistol is 40,6 cm / 16" long overall, weighs in at 1,88 kilograms / 66.5 oz. when empty, and is available on the US market at a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $999.00.
