Beretta USA introduces a new version of the 92 series: the Beretta 92XI "Squalo", a competition pistol designed in collaboration with Langdon Tactical

Announced by Beretta USA on December 20, 2023, and manufactured in their Gallatin, TN plant, the new Beretta 92XI Squalo 9mm Luger semi-automatic pistol is the latest entry in the competition-oriented Beretta 92X series of pistols. Created in cooperation with Langdon Tactical, the new Beretta 92XI Squalo (meaning "Shark" in Italian) can be told apart by the unique aesthetics of the full grey Cerakote Premium H finish and the purpose-designed, purpose-built Hogue "Squalo" grips it comes with; but sticking to its beauty would mean to go no further than skin-deep on this one.

The new Beretta 92XI Squalo pistol comes from factory with a Xtreme-S single-action only fire control system, with a DLC-coated, flat-faced trigger; a skeletonized hammer; and an ambidextrous frame-mounted safety. The Picatinny-railed, Vertec-style M9A4 frame the new 92XI Squalo is built on also prominently features an extended, flared Toni System mag-well manufactured in Italy to increase reloading speed.

Fitting within IPSC and USPSA rules and regulations, the Beretta 92XI Squalo is issued with three double-stack, 24-rounds magazines manufactured in Italy by MEC-GAR and a reversible and extendable magazine release button that can be adjusted for right-handed or left-handed users alike, as well as for shooters of any hand size.

The slide on the 92XI Squalo features an aggressive set of front and rear serrations; a serrated rear sight and fiber-optic front sight; and a machined interface for micro red-dot sights.

Due to the 119mm / 4.7" long barrel, the Beretta 92XI Squalo is "barely" 216 mm / 8.5" long overall – a full-size pistol, but still shorter than a standard Beretta 92-FS or 92X – and weighs in at 945 grams (33.3 oz) when unloaded.

As of today, the new Beretta 92XI Squalo pistol is only available on the US market, which is why it also comes equipped with a cable lock – a safety feature that is made mandatory by law in some States.

The manufacturer's suggested retail price for the Beretta 92XI Squalo pistol in the United States starts at $1,299.00. Information concerning availability and pricing outside of the US should be released in early 2024.
