Sightmark and Firefield optics: all-rounders, all-purpose, and for all!
Sport shooters and hunters looking for affordable and reliable optical sights, the Sightmark and Firefield brands provide interesting solutions
The Sellmark Corporation is an American company headquartered in Mansfield (Texas), active in the distribution of optical sights and accessories for hunting, sport and tactical shooting, and outdoors enthusiasts in general. In February 2017 the company started Sellmark OOD, its International base of operation in Sofia (Bulgaria), to better serve the increasing demand of the European market.
The brands owned and distributed by Sellmark corporation include 12 Survivors – a line of survival, outdoor and camping equipment – and the popular Pulsar brand of commercial night vision systems.
But the backbone of the Sellmark business is represented by the Sightmark and Firefield brands, offering a really wide selection of optical systems dedicated to all kind of sport shooting, tactical and hunting purposes.
The Sightmark product line was established in 2007, while the Firefield product line was launched in 2009, to offer the shooters a more budget-friendly alternative to fulfill their needs.
Since then, Sightmark and Firefield have become quite popular worldwide, establishing themselves as affordable alternatives to more expensive brands, well before the "explosion" of the optics market as witnessed in recent years.
Just like the majority of all optics brands, Sightmark and Firefield products come from China – where, in recent years, local suppliers have set sharp improvements in their manufacturing procedures and quality control standards, allowing international industry players to offer better products at affordable prices.
We're not trying to make any direct comparison between the Sightmark and Firefield optics and some of the products offered by the best-known and high-priced brands available on the market: it would not make any sense at all.
But truth must be told: without brands such as Sightmark and Firefield – and others on the same level in terms of price-to-quality ratio – the incredible growth witnessed by the sporting firearms and tactical accessories market in the past decade would have been probably impossible.
Today, the Sightmark and Firefield catalogs offer much more than "just" optics: reflex, red and green-dot sights, riflescopes and prism sights are paired to spotting scopes, laser sights, tactical flashlights and gun lights, binoculars, bipods, folding knives, rails, optics mounts and AR-15 railed handguards, down to laser bore-sighters and even stun guns.
All the Sightmark and Firefield products are markedly "tactical" in nature, albeit they still result perfect for various types of hunting as well as for sport shooting specialties ranging from long-range shooting to standard training, from leisure plinking down to 3-Gun – particularly when mated to modern sporting rifles.
The two brands cover all the needs of the modern market, with a quite clear policy concerning the warranty terms covering the products: conditions may vary from country to country so, especially for customers living outside the United States, we strongly suggest reading the Sightmark Warranty or the Firefield Warranty, depending on the product you are interested in, asking your dealer/shop concerning how to get assistance in case of need.
Training is fundamental for all sport shooters, as well as for professionals. Whatever the task, when you use a gun, only a significant investment in terms of range time will allow you to develop, consolidate and maintain the necessary knowledge base and skills to be proficient at shooting.
But even the most thorough training is useless if you do not have the right tool at hand when you need it.
As the Sellmark company representatives told us when we met them at SHOT Show and IWA this year, the Sightmark and Firefield product lines were conceived to provide exactly this: a wide variety of optics and accessories any shooter may need, affordable, reliable and up to date with the market trends and demands.
If you stumbled on this article because you're looking for a reliable optical sight for your gun that will perform well at the range without leaving you broke, your search may just be over!
