SHOT Show 2018 – the Austrian firm Strasser has introduced the Strasser RS14 Evolution, an upgrade of the existing RS 14 straight-pull hunting rifle, now also equipped with a integral Picatinny rail for mounting optics
At the 2018 SHOT Show in Las Vegas, the Austrian-based Strasser company showcased the new Strasser RS14 Evolution straight-pull bolt-action hunting rifle. A top-class versatile and modular hunting rifle, the Strasser RS14 Evolution rifle is now equipped with a integral Picatinny rail, for mounting any type of riflescopes.
The Strasser RS14 Evolution is a straight-pull bolt-action rifle with a 45-degrees bolt handle and a very short travel for fast repetition, featuring an ergonomic stock, an ergonomically-design vertical safety catch, and a removabile combination trigger with adjustable trigger weight that also houses the Allen wrench to disassemble the rifle.
What makes the Strasser RS14 Evolution rifle really a top class versatile and modular rifle, however, is the new and patented BEST barrel eschange system.
The mechanical function of the BEST barrel exchange system enables an absolutely repeatable caliber change due to the unrivalled shape of the exchange barrels.
The removable barrel is fastened using a connection with a mechanically set tightening force. As a result it is clamped with an adjustable, predefined and always consistent torque. The clamping leaver only needs to be moved through one third of a turn for releasing and clamping.
This ensures the accurate repeatability of the barrel clamping system in the simplest way that is unparalleled anywhere. Strasser barrels are also offered as fluted, without open sights, with a muzzle thread and as a semi-weight, as well as with a resistant PlasOx coating.
The Strasser RS14 Evolution is available in twenty-two different calibers – three "Mini" calibers, fifteen standard calibers, four magnum calibers – and can be converted from and to any of those reliably and safely thanks to a patented interchangeable bolt head system for its universal straight-pull bolt design.
The insertion of the bolt head is performed in a few simple steps using the rotating cover. Three bolt heads are available for mini, standard and magnum calibers.
The Strasser RS14 Evolution feeds through detachable box magazines, which are universal and whose capacity changes depending from the ammunition used; only three calibers overall of the twenty-two available require a dedicated magazine.
