It had already been announced back in 2017, then once again at this year's edition of the SHOT Show, but only now, in Fall 2018, the new entry in the Winchester Repeating Arms XPR line of bolt-action hunting rifles finally becomes available.

The Winchester XPR Sporter is a great alternative for those hunters who just can't do without the traditional look and feel of a good, durable, aesthetically pleasing walnut stock that is also more sturdy and stable than an entry level plastic rifle stock.

The new Winchester XPR Sporter rifle features a close-grained Grade I walnut stock with crisp checkering on the pistol grip and fore-end for a classic look and feel. A flattened forend profile provides added stability when shooting from sandbags or a rest. The stock also features an Inflex Technology recoil pad.

At the heart of any accurate rifle is the barrel and the XPR Sporter does not disappoint. The top-quality chromoly steel barrel is button rifled and thermally stress relieved. A target-style crown protects the rifling. The action is precision bedded to ensure the barrel is free-floating.

The receiver of the XPR Sporter is machined from a solid steel bar stock, and features a steel recoil lug. All metal surfaces sport a protective Perma-Cote matte black finish, while the bolt body is Nickel Teflon coated for resistance and smooth operation.

Other features of the Winchester XPR Sporter rifle include a two-positions thumb safety; a visible and tactile cocking status indicator; and an M.O.A. system trigger.

Barrel lengths are 22" for short action calibers, 24" for short magnum and standard long action rounds and 26" for magnum calibers.

The manufacturer's suggested retail price for the Winchester XPR Sporter is set at $599.99 for all variants in the United States. European and other non-US customers should consult their authorized Winchester dealers for availability and pricing.
