Announced in June 2018, the Model 48 Nosler Custom Handgun is a high-precision bolt-action single-shot pistol conceived for hunting and silhouette shooting
Nosler, Inc. is one of America's best known manufacturers of ammunition and reloading components for hunting and sport shooting, but back in 2006 the Company entered the firearms market in full and first-hand with the Model 48 line of bolt-action hunting and long-range shooting rifles and with the Nosler Varmageddon AR semi-automatic rifle.
At the onset of Summer 2018, the company introduced the Model 48 NCH "Nosler Custom Handgun": a single-shot, bolt-action pistol feeding from a solid bottom receiver, conceived for hunting, metallic silhouette shooting, and many other shooting disciplines. The Model 48 NCH is packed with features that make it one of the best choices in its field today. Let's take a closer look at it.
The M48 NCH is based on Nosler's own, Model 48 short action, and is available in six popular Model 48 short action hunting chamberings: .22 Nosler, .24 Nosler, 6mm Creedmor, 6.5 Creedmoor, 7mm-08 Remington, and .308 Winchester. The frame is fully CNC-machined in-house by Nosler, out of a solid billet of 6061-T6 lightweight aluminum alloy.
The Model 48 Nosler Custom Handgun features a fully free-floated Shilen, 416R stainless steel heavy contour barrel that has been threaded at the muzzle, and supplied with a thread protector; a Harrell's Precision four-port brake and a fluted barrel are both available as optionals.
The Mod.48 Nosler Custom Handgun comes from factory with a Hogue OverMolded rubber grip with finger grooves, but is compatible with any AR-15 type pistol grip. The M48 NCH is entirely coated in NIC Industries Cerakote finish. A variety of standard colors are available, but customers can pick from any Cerakote color to personalize their Nosler Custom Handgun. The barreled action and stock are coated separately, allowing for two different color choices and a wide variety of color combinations.
The M48 NCH is available in overall lengths ranging between 18" and 24", and in seven barrel lengths ranging between 12" and 18" depending from the caliber, for an overall weight ranging between 5.48 lbs and 6.74 lbs.; among its features are a manual safety and two sling attachment points. No iron sights are provided, but the receiver is adapted for scope rings.
The manufacturer's suggested retail price for the Model 48 Nosler Custom Handgun is set at $2.495,00; the estimated time to process custom orders is 3-4 months. No information concerning export availability or pricing has been made available so far.
