Beretta announces a new version of their striker-fired, polymer frame service and defensive full-size pistol: the Beretta APX A1 Full Size features improved ergonomics, an optics-ready slide, a better trigger, and more

Beretta's flagship service and defensive pistol gets an upgrade: seven months after the launch of an improved Carry version of the design, the new Beretta APX A1 Full Size semi-automatic pistol upgrades the baseline model of the Italian Company's striker-fired, polymer frame pistol to better meet the needs and demands of civilians, competition shooters, law enforcement officers and military operators.

If compared to the first iteration of the APX, first introduced in 2017, the new APX A1 Full Size has been upgraded in terms of functionality and ergonomics, while mechanically remaining faithful to the original design – exception made for the trigger, which now features a more streamlined design, a less obtrusive safety, a lighter pull, a cleaner break, and a shorter reset.

The polymer frame of the Beretta APX A1 Full Size pistol was remodeled by adding more gripping surfaces on the sides and removing the front finger grooves. The grip is higher, and so is the rear portion of the checkered Combat-style trigger guard, allowing providing the shooter with more contact surfaces and allowing for a higher grip.

The frame is still railed for tactical accessories. Three interchangeable backstraps are provided to adapt the grip of the new APX A1 Full Size to shooters of any hand size.

The Beretta APX A1 Full Size comes with an ambidextrous slide stop release lever and a reversible magazine catch; only the takedown lever remains located on the left side of the frame only. This means that the APX A1 Full Size is completely configurable for left-handed or right-handed shooters alike with minimum effort.

The Beretta APX A1 Full Size feeds through Italian-made double-stack metal magazines, with a polymer follower and floorplate, offering a capacity of 17 rounds of 9mm Luger. As of today, 9mm Luger is the only available caliber for the new APX A1 Full Size.

The steel slide comes from factory with a modular micro red dot sight interface and a set of more aggressive front and rear serrations, providing for a secure and firm grip, better handling and chamber check capabilities in all conditions, including under stress, in extreme weather, or otherwise hostile environments.

The outer metal surfaces of the Beretta APX A1 Full Size pistol are coated in a new black finish, a Beretta proprietary solution dubbed Aquatech Shield, which offers a higher level of resistance against corrosion, scratches, chemicals, and other hostile elements. The factory iron sights – a black serrated rear sight and a tritium front post – provide an excellent sighting picture and close to optimal target alignment in mostly any light conditions.
