Sightmark Citadel 3-18x50 MR2 riflescope is designed for medium-to-long range shooting, competition shooting, law enforcement and hunting
The growing popularity of long-range hunting and shooting sports in the past few years has led to an increase in demand for mid-tier accessories that would satisfy most needs for both seasoned outdoorsmen and newcomers alike, delivering acceptable quality levels without breaking the bank. And that’s where companies such as the Texas-based Sightmark step in.
The Sightmark Citadel 3-18x50 MR2 is a budget-priced riflescope with highly appreciated features that does not sacrifice manufacturing quality nor durability in its quest for affordability, perfectly representing the state of the industry and its capabilities to manufacture a cost-effective quality product.
The Sightmark Citadel 3-18x50 MR2 riflescope is built around a single-piece, 30 mm / 1.18” machined aircraft-grade aluminum alloy tube that’s nitrogen-purged to offer resistance against shocks, dust, fogging, and water up to IP67 standards (immersion-resistant up to 1 meter / 39.37” in depth for 30 minutes). The scope is 33 cm / 13” long overall, 79 mm / 3.1” wide and 56 mm / 2.2” high, and weighs approximately 740 grams (26.1 oz) – perfect proportions for a sport shooting or hunting riflescope.
With its 50mm objective lens diameter, 40 mm / 1.6” eyepiece, 7,4/2,7 mm exit pupil and a parallax setting ranging from 15 to infinite at 100 meters, the Sightmark Citadel 3-18x50 MR2 riflescope offers a field of view of 11 to 1,9 meters at 100m (33 to 5.8 ft at 100 yd) and is rated for resistance to recoil up to .338 caliber.
All lenses are fully multi-coated, reflex-proof and resistant to fogging and dirt; the 3x to 18x magnification ratio and 6:1 zoom ratio allow quick adaptability for mid-to-long-range hunting of small game, predators, varmint and big game through forest and mountains.
The Sightmark Citadel 3-18x50 MR2 riflescope comes with a glass-etched MR2 marksman reticle on the first focal plane, with four-solid post, thin crosshairs and a center dot for elevation holdovers.
The medium-range MR2 reticle’s crosshairs are separated by 1, 0.5 and 0.2 MRAD intervals: it is uncomplicated and easy to use, simple at low magnification, while still offering the ability to adjust your aim at higher magnifications.
The reticle is illuminated in red, with 11 selectable brightness settings for low- or high-light shooting. The illumination system is powered by a single 3-volt, CR2032 battery; the battery life can range between 70 and 100 hours of continuous runtime, depending on the selected brightness level.
The MR2 marksman reticle is MIL-based, and can be adjusted on a 17-MIL range on both windage and elevation; the 0.1-MIL-per-click exposed, low-profile turrets also integrate a locking system to prevent loss of zero due to accidental handling.
Operating to temperatures ranging between -17 to +49°C (0 to 120°F), the Sightmark Citadel 3-18x50 MR2 riflescope comes from factory with a throw lever for quick and easy magnification change, flip-up lens covers, and a sunshade. The Sightmark Citadel 3-18x50 MR2 riflescope is built to meet the everyday needs of hunters and shooters, and to do so for a very, very long time.
Sightmark’s Citadel line of riflescope is a great example of the state of the industry, offering performance and reliability at an affordable price.
In terms of reliability, all Citadel scopes are nitrogen-purged, dustproof, shockproof, fogproof and waterproof-rated to withstand complete submersion in one meter of water for up to 30 minutes.
