Aimpoint introduces the Duty RDS red dot sight
Aimpoint of Sweden introduces a new micro red dot sight – the Aimpoint Duty RDS – mainly aimed to the military and law enforcement markets, but also particularly desirable for top competition shooters in terms of pricing and performance
The Aimpoint Duty RDS red dot sight is the first new product to be announced for 2022 by Aimpoint AB of Sweden: a micro red dot sight – a category that the Company itself pioneered back in 2014 with the launch of the Micro series, and now prevalent among civilian and professional users alike – that matches the high quality levels Aimpoint optics are known for, with the addition of a very interesting price point.
The Aimpoint Duty RDS sight features a 2 MOA dot, ideal for close-to-mid-range engagements, making it perfect as a primary optical sight for modern sporting rifles, military-issue assault rifles, sub-machine guns, and Police patrol rifles, as well as a sensible choice for all those professional and civilian users who may be on the market for an ancillary or secondary optic for rifles and carbines using LPVOs as their primary sight.
The windage and elevation adjustments are flush mounted and waterproof, eliminating the need for protective caps. The turret adjustments provide audible "clicks" to aid in zeroing the optic. Red dot brightness can be manually adjusted on ten different levels – four of which are compatible with the use of night vision devices.
The brightness intensity switch on the new Aimpoint Duty RDS red dot sight consists in a new digital keypad, designed for ease of use even while wearing gloves. The keypad also dubs as the manual on/off switch. Aimpoint's patented ("Advanced Circuit Efficiency Technology") diode circuitry allows the Duty RDS red dot sight to offer over three years of continuous runtime with a single CR2032 battery with brightness set at Level 7, and even more at any NVG-compatible setting.
The Aimpoint Duty RDS micro red dot sight is built around a pressure forged lightweight aluminum alloy housing; standing at 80 mm / 3.1" in length, 67 mm / 2.6" in height and 38 mm / 1.5" in width, the Duty RDS weighs in at 161 grams (5.7 oz) and is strikingly durable against extreme abuse and drastic temperature changes. The Aimpoint Duty RDS red dot sight is also vibration and shock resistant, and submersible up to 25 meters.
The Aimpoint Duty RDS sight comes issued from factory with a one-piece torsion nut mount and spacer, allowing installation on MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny rails. An Allen T10 key is provided with every sample.
The 39 mm (1.5") optical axis height of the Aimpoint Duty RDS red dot sight puts it in absolute co-witnessing with the iron sights of the vast majority of military-issue assault rifles, sub-machine guns, Police patrol rifles, and modern sporting rifles currenty available on the global markets, and makes it compatible with all generations of night vision devices. Also issued with each Aimpoint Duty RDS red dot sight is a set of flip-up lens covers – black front, translucent rear.
The unlimited eye relief and advanced optical lenses offering high levels of light transmission – over 85% in the 420-620 nm range – make the Aimpoint Duty RDS red dot sight even more appealing for the most demanding operators.
The Aimpoint Duty RDS red dot sight will be initially available only to law enforcement, military, and other Government customers only; earliest availability date for Europe is set for 3rd quarter 2022. The manufacturer's suggested retail price for the European market has been announced at 430,00 €.
