The Extrema Ratio Silente
(from the N.O.C.S. motto “Sicut Nox Silentes”, “silent as the night”) is a fixed blade knife incorporating a multi-tool in the handle, specifically designed for the needs of the unit.
With the same modified spear point profile of the Contact, the blade is made of milled Böhler N690 steel hardened at 58 HRC, 163mm/6.41” long and 6,3mm/0,25” thick, plain edged with two side grooves extending almost for the full length of the blade.
The Forprene grip doubles as a pliers-like tool that can be opened at the press of a recessed button. The tool serves as pliers, nipper and glass breaker. The nippers feature hardened steel inserts that can be easily replaced in case of wear.

The knife and sheath overall weight is 338g/11.92oz. The knife is available in black, with the blade sporting the tough Extrema Ratio MIL-C-13924 black finish that protects it effectively against wear and offers additional resistance to corrosion.
Being a knife designed and intended for professional use, high relevance has been assigned to ease of carry, access and extraction in case of need. The knife is secured to the sheat by a fast release safety that can be easily reversed for left hand use, also addressing the safety issues in terms of protecting the operator from the blade during the use of the multi-tool.
The sheath is versatile and can be mounted on the M.O.L.L.E. system of a tactical vest, backpack or any other equipment both upwards and reversed.
It features a four-prong mouth for ease of sheathing and the new trigger-like safety that allows secure retention and fast, instinctive release.
Rubber inserts in the sheath dampen the blade to avoid rattling. The polymer sheath can be separated from the carrying harness by two quick release clamps and covers the blade while using the Silente as a multitool.
