ZeroTech Optics introduces the new Thrive HD red dot sight: a lightweight, open top, compact reflex sight available with a low or high Picatinny mount and a universal footprint for quasi-total compatibility with optics-ready handgun slides
Not exactly a household name among shooters and hunters outside of Oceania, ZeroTech Optics was established in 2018 in Sydney (Australia) as the sport optics branch of one of the most important manufacturers and supplier of optical components in the Asia-Pacific zone.
Most recently, ZeroTech Optics opened a subsidiary in the United States; ZeroTech's sport optics are manufactured by contractors in the Far East, but are completely designed and engineered at the company's headquarters in Sydney, where they are returned for rigorous quality control and testing before shipping off to distributors and retailers.
The latest entry in the Company's product line is the ZeroTech Optics Thrive HD red dot sight, a low-profile, lightweight, open design reflex sight conceived to be used on handguns, shotguns, and rifles alike, and to meet the demands and tastes of commercial and professional users at the same time.

The ZeroTech Optics Thrive HD red dot sight is available in a high mount option and a low mount option, both compatible with Weaver and Picatinny rails thanks to their T15 Torx rail clamp bolt. Weighing in at approximately 88 grams (3.1 oz) with battery included, and standing in at just 45 mm / 1.77" in length and 28 mm / 1.1" in height (without mount), the Thrive HD red dot sight also features a universal footprint that makes it readily compatible with the vast majority of optics-ready handgun slides and interfaces.

The ZeroTech Optics Thrive HD red dot sight is built on a black aluminum alloy chassis that's completely waterproof, shock-proof and fog-proof; the 28mm x 20mm front lens features a multi-layer anti-reflective coating specially developed for the least possible image distortion and to make sure that the red dot remains daylight-visible in all lighting conditions.
A single CR2032 battery powers the Thrive HD from a compartment located on the right side of the sight, accessible through an airtight panel that's kept shut by two Torx screws. This maintains the battery compartment secure while at the same time allowing the battery to be replaced without having to remove the sight from your firearm.
Two rubberized + and - buttons are located on the left side, providing manual on/off and brightness adjustment for the 3 MOA center dot.
The dot can be adjusted on eleven different brightness levels, to adapt to the environmental lighting conditions.
The ZeroTech Thrive HD red dot sight also includes an embedded sensor with an auto-off and auto-on function, which will turn the red dot off to save power after a certain time frame and will turn it automatically on again if movement is detected – such as, if the firearm is brought to bear.
This allows the Thrive HD red dot sight to remain quick and easy to operate whenever necessary – a must-have when out hunting or during a shooting competition – while at the same time ensuring long battery life: a single battery can last up to 50,000 hours, depending on the selected brightness level.
Two turrets located on top and on the right side of the sight body allow the center dot to be adjusted for windage and elevation on a 90 MOA range. Both turrets are recessed within the aluminum chassis and can be operated only with a Torx screw, thus preventing accidental loss of zero in case of mishandling.
The ZeroTech Optics Thrive HD micro red dot sight can be operated at temperatures ranging between -20°C and +70°C (-4°F/+158°F) and is sold at a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $249.00, coming issued with its high or low mount (interchangeable, of course), a Torx key, a micro-fiber cloth, and a rubber lens cover.
