Beretta announces the fifth generation of the 687 Silver Pigeon over-under shotgun: high manufacturing technology, almost complete adaptability and elegance blend together in the shooter's choice of 12-gauge or 20-gauge chambering for hunting or clay shooting
A new top-tier Beretta shotgun is here, and is taking on the world with a blast: the Beretta 687 Silver Pigeon V over-under shotgun is the fifth iteration of the 687 design, guaranteed to conquer the hearts of shooters and hunters worldwide with its perfect blend of efficiency, aesthetics, reliability and low maintenance.
Available in 12-gauge and 20-gauge variants, the new Beretta 687 Silver Pigeon V over-under shotgun is built around a Beretta 680 design receiver, with its signature trapezoidal locking shoulders and dual conical locking lugs ensuring unparalleled solidity and reliability, all embelished by a fine 5-axis laser floral engraving and a deep scroll motif reproducing a design created by the master engravers of Gardone Val Trompia; the engraving extends all the way down to extends to the bottom of the receiver, opening lever, trigger guard, locking shoulders, pins, and forend release.
The Grade 3 selected walnut handguard and stock – a qualitative leap from the Grade 2.5 wooden stock and handguard found on the Silver Pigeon III model – feature a lustrous gloss finish that highlights the precious wood grain while protecting the components from water and humidity, making them both elegant in all conditions and extremely sturdy for the hardest hunting days.
Both the handguard and the stock are finely checkered on all contact surfaces for a firm grip in all conditions. The stock is available in right-handed and left-handed versions, with either a 35/55 or 38/60 drop, and optionally with a B-FAST height-adjustable cheek riser for clay shooting competitions.
The Beretta 687 Silver Pigeon V features a gold-plated single trigger with a manual sliding selector located within the safety tang to allow the user to select the barrel for the first shot with a simple quick sideways movement.
The ejection system is the same tried-and-tried design used on the 680 platform: with over a million guns built in 30 years using this system flawlessly, you just can't go wrong!
The Beretta 687 Silver Pigeon V over-under shotgun is available in two versions: Hunting (with 71 cm / 28" or 76 cm / 30" barrels) and Sporting (with 76 cm / 30" and 81 cm / 32" barrels). All versions feature Beretta's own, proprietary Steelium barrels, manufactured out of a special steel alloy.
Deep-drilled, cold hammer forged and vacuum-relieved, with their OptimaBore HP geometry and 80mm double forcing cone, those barrels will offer outstanding performance and always perfect and uniform patterns with every type of ammunition, including steel shot, while at the same time greatly reduced felt recoil.
All the versions of the new Beretta 687 Silver Pigeon V over-under shotgun feature a ventilated top rib (6x6 mm for the Hunting version and 10x8 mm for the Sporting version), with a fine anti-reflective checkering and a steel bead front sight as a homage to the most exclusive Beretta creations. The Sporting version of the Silver Pigeon V is optionally available with an intermediate sight.
The Silver Pigeon design never stopped evolving, and the new Beretta 687 Silver Pigeon V represents a great balance between elegance and function.
