IWA 2017 - Anticipated by a catchy advertisement campaign at the end of the year 2016, and showcased at the SHOT Show in Las Vegas back in January, the massive UNG-12 bull-pup semi-automatic shotgun was Uzkon's star at the Nuremberg arms fair

Earlier on in March, at the 2017 edition of the IWA OutdoorClassics expo in Nuremberg (Germany), the Uzkon Arms Defense company – one of Turkey's premier manufacturers of tactical shotguns – showcased one of its most eagerly anticipated products to the eager European civilian market.

The Uzkon UNG-12 is an eye-catching bull-pup semi-automatic, magazine-fed shotgun sporting a futuristic design and a reinforced polymer lower / machined aluminum upper construction. It is massive in dimensions – not your standard, small sized bullpup – and offers a fairly intuitive controls configuration, with a cross-button safety located over the trigger guard and a cocking handle located on the left side of the upper receiver.

With some of its lines (and ergonomics) unmistakeably patterned after the Belgian FN F2000, the UNG-12 is so far manufactured only in a 12-gauge variant, with a 76mm / 3" chamber for Magnum loads. 2, 5 and 10-shots magazines were on display at IWA. The ejection window is located only on the right side and is not reversible, and the bolt release catch is found on the right side, opposite to it.

Both the upper and lower receivers of the UNG-12 feature several MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny rails for optics, flip-up sights and other tactical accessories; the lower receiver also sports an integral mount for a factory-issued optional laser/flashlight combo. Eight different sling swivel attachment points are found all through the chassis.

The Uzkon UNG-12 is a gas-operated shotgun, featuring a piston system located just underneath the barrel.

The entire bolt assembly is precision-machined out of heat-treated 4140 steel; the barrel – factory-issued with a massive muzzle device and threaded to accept a wide variety of chokes – is manufactured out of the same steel. A two-stage recoil reducing system and a rubber buttpad help to maintain felt recoil within acceptable levels.

The UNG-12 shotgun is available in thirteen different color configurations and combinations; more specifically, the aluminum alloy upper receiver is Cerakoted.

Distribution of the Uzkon UNG-12 shotgun has already kicked off in several European Countries. The average retail price ranges around the €1.000,00 mark, but slight variations are possible depending from local and national variables (eg. taxes). Seek your local dealer for availability and pricing.
