Ever since Hornady first introduced it in 2007 as a derivative of .30 TC, itself a derivative of .308 Winchester, the 6.5 Creedmoor cartridge has grown to conquer the "hearts and minds" of sport shooters all around the globe – and particularly long-range shooters! – given its unique and desirable mix of high-end ballistic features.

As a result, countless gunmakers have been rushing to introduce more and more rifles in that caliber for the past years; the overall cartridge length (2.825", or 71.8 mm) made it easy for gun manufacturers to adapt existing platforms to the 6.5 Creedmoor caliber – particularly short-action bolt action rifles and semi-automatic AR-10 type rifles.

Now, both skiller and beginner long-range shooters have a new alternative if they seek a reliable platform to exploit the almost unmatched performance of 6.5 Creedmoor: Springfield Armory introduces two different versions of the quintessentially American M1A rifle in that caliber, either with a classic-style black synthetic stock or with a black or desert tan precision-adjustable stock to dial in fit and feel. All ship with a 10-round magazine.

The M1A’s National Match Grade, 22-inch medium weight stainless steel barrel provides a long sight radius with a 4-groove 1:8 right hand twist and shot-steadying muzzle brake for accuracy. NM Grade .062 post front sight and non-hooded .0520 aperture rear sight ideal for far targets, adjustable for ½ MOA windage and 1 MOA elevation.

The 2-stage trigger is NM-tuned to 4.5 – 5 pounds for a crisp pull. A true 1000-yard rifle that delivers a level of shooting satisfaction few rifles can match, especially when paired with a Springfield Armory scope mount and your optic of choice.
