Now a globally-established and recognized brand, Kel-Tec CNC Industries of Cocoa (FL) first launched its RDB 5,56mm/.223 ambidextrous downwards-ejecting bull-pup semi-automatic rifle a couple of years ago, and it was a true game changer in the segment.

Last year, a sporterized version of the RDB platform – dubbed the RDB-C – was launched as an alternative for hunters and dwellers in jurisdictions with "assault weapon ban" legislations in place. The RDB-C features no vertical grip, although any RDB variant can be converted to any other simply by changing the polymer frame.

At the 2018 SHOT Show, Kel-Tec expands the RDB line with the RDB-S variant: a shorter version of the RDB-C – 66,2 cm / 26.1" long overall, with a 408 mm / 16.1" barrel – specifically conceived for defense, outdoors and survival uses.

Weighing in at barely 2,27 kilograms (5 lbs), the RDB-S is much more comfortable to carry around, easier to store, and features and extensible buttstock to better fit the size and physical built of any shooter. The polymer frame does without a vertical pistol grip, opting for the RDB-C's curved grip instead.

A gas-operated firearm featuring an adjustable system, the Kel-Tec RDB-S semi-automatic rifle offers fully ambidextrous controls for easy familiarization by left-handed and right-handed users alike; spent cases are ejected downwards through a chute located behind the magazine well.

Chambered for the popular 5,56x45mm/.223 Remington, the Kel-Tec RDB-S feeds through STANAG 4179 compliant (AR-15 type) magazines. Flip-up iron sights are issued, as well as a top Picatinny rail for optics.
