SHOT Show 2019 – The Taurus TX22 semi-automatic pistol offers a killer look, a single-action striker-fired trigger on a polymer frame, and a staggering capacity of 16 rounds in .22 Long Rifle: ready for competition, even if you're not!

The Taurus TX22 semi-automatic pistol, introduced at the 2019 edition of the NSSF SHOT Show, is a striker-fired polymer-frame handgun chambered in .22 Long Rifle and conceived to provide the look and feel of a modern service or defense handgun and the performance of a custom-tuned competition pistol in a budget-priced package.

Designed and engineered from the ground up to maximize fit, function, and comfort for shooters of all statures and levels of experience, the Taurus TX22 is a full-size polymer handgun that is ready from the outset to deliver success for competitive shooters as well as those just learning the art of pistol shooting. Boasting all the familiar features of larger-caliber semi-auto handguns yet in a rimfire chamber and with a class-leading 16-round capacity, the TX22 sets new performance standards and shooter expectations across the .22 Long Rifle pistols category.

Built around a single-action-only striker-fired system, the Taurus Pittman Trigger System (PTS) found in the TX22 utilizes a short, 5 lb. (2,26 kg) trigger pull to release the sear. The trigger reset is also short, audible and spring-assisted, allowing the shooter to deliver quick follow-up shots while maintaining good sight alignment. The recoil spring force is actually higher than most hammer fired .22’s.

The grip geometry combines with an optimized slide weight to deliver virtually no recoil, furthering the Taurus TX22's fast-action, quick-sight-acquisition performance so desired for a competitive-level handgun or for rapid-fire target practice. The grip itself is generously covered with a proprietary texture pattern that ensures positive hand placement and retention without overly aggressive stipling, which can be uncomfortable to beginning shooters during long range sessions.

The vast use of polymer, mainly in the frame, as well as the strategic lightening of non-critical components and the use of hardcoat-anodized matte black aerospace-grade 7075 aluminum for the slide keep the overall weight of the pistol to 17.3 oz (490 grams). The 4.1 inch barrel is also available in a longer, threaded variant; a reversible manual safety is optionally available.
