SHOT Show 2023 – The new Taurus TX 22 Compact semi-automatic rimfire pistol is perfect for competition, plinking, or even self-protection, thanks to its small size, practical design, and 13-rounds magazine
Freshly introduced at the 2023 edition of SHOT Show by Taurus International Manufacturing – the US-based subsidiary of Forjas Taurus S/A of Brazil – the new Taurus TX 22 Compact .22 Long Rifle semi-automatic rimfire pistol goes to expand the already wildly popular TX 22 line of polymer-frame, striker-fired handguns chambered for .22 Long Rifle. The first TX 22 was launched at SHOT Show in 2019, and as of today, the TX 22 lines is comprised of three entries, all excellent for self-protection – with all the due limitations inherent to the small caliber – as well as for competition shooting, target training, plinking, or as a propedeutic tool to introduce the younger generations to the basics of marksmanship and safe firearm handling.
If compared to the baseline, full-size TX 22, the new TX 22 Compact is shorter at 17 cm / 6.7”; features a 9,14 cm / 3.6” steel barrel; and weighs in at barely 467 gr / 16.5 oz. when unloaded. Other features of the Taurus TX 22 Compact include a black polymer frame with a tactical accessories rail and an ambidextrous manual safety; and a black anodized aluminum slide with front and side lightening cuts, a set of white dot iron sights, and a Taurus T.O.R.O. optics interface for Shield RMSc and Holosun K footprint micro red dot sights.
The TX 22 Compact feeds through detachable double-stack black polymer magazines, holding thirteen rounds of .22 Long Rifle ammunition; each TX 22 Compact is issued with two magazines. The new Taurus TX 22 Compact pistol is available on the US commercial market at a suggested retail price of $399.99.
