SHOT Show 2020 – The new Springfield Armory XD-M Elite pistols offer a plethora of enhancement over the baseline models, for those users who are serious about sport shooting, personal defense, or duty purposes
Springfield Armory's XD line of semi-automatic, polymer frame, striker-fired pistols – arguably one of the most successful in the past decade – expands further in 2020 with the launch of the Springfield Armory XD-M Elite line of handguns: four models designed to fit practically any role, from full-size competition models to suppressor-ready versions to standard- and concealed carry-sized variants.
All available in 9mm Luger only so far, the Springfield Armory XD-M Elite pistols offer tried-and-true features that made its predecessors famous – a Match-grade barrel with a loaded chamber indicator and an ambi slide stop, first and foremost – along with enhancements such as a removable magwell, improved slide serrations, and increased capacity of 20+1 rounds for short magwell models and 22+1 rounds for standard magwell models.
Most notably, the XD-M Elite pistols are built around the brand new and refined META trigger, designed to wring out the most from the pistol’s most important interface with the shooter.
Featuring a flat face and integral overtravel stop, the META (Match Enhanced Trigger Assembly) system offers a brief clean take-up, a crisp break, and an abbreviated reset. Springfield Armory describes the pull of the META trigger as "the finest trigger pull available on a production polymer-framed pistol".
At this time, the Springfield Armory XD-M Elite line of pistols is comprised of four variants: the XD-M Elite 3.8", with a compact 9,65 cm barrel for concealability; the duty-sized XD-M Elite 4.5" with an 11,43 cm barrel; the XD-M Elite 4.5" Tactical OSP in desert tan color, with an optics mounting systems, suppressor-height sights, and a threaded barrel; and the XD-M Elite 5.25" Precision, offering a 13,33 cm barrel and a lightened slide with fiber optic front sight and fully adjustable rear sight for competition.
