First launched in 2014, the VP-series of pistols represents Heckler & Koch's triumphal re-entry in the field of striker-fired, polymer-frame pistol since the VP-70 – the gun that started it all. Three years later, the VP-series of pistols (known in Europe as the SFP) is Heckler & Koch's main handguns line, slowly but relentlessly replacing former "tips of the spear" such as the P30.

At the 2017 edition of the SHOT Show, Heckler & Koch is launching three new versions of the VP line, aimed to please civilian and professional shooters alike.

New for this year is the VP TACTICAL model: a  threaded barrel variant of the acclaimed VP-series, tested and proven with a variety of the leading high quality sound suppressors, and available in the 9mm VP9 and .40-caliber VP40 variants

Also brand new for 2017 are the VP FDE and the VP Grey semi-automatic pistols – also both available in 9mm and .40 caliber, they add a touch of color to the relentless reliability of the VP9 and VP40 with the use of a flat dark earth or urban grey polymer frame.
The VP9 and VP40 semi-automatic pistols feed from the same magazines as the P30 series pistols, holding 15 rounds in 9x19mm caliber and 13 rounds in .40 Smith & Wesson caliber.

News of the launch of the new VP9 and VP40 variants come in a key moment for HK USA, which is currently planning to invest $28.5 million to expand its existing operations in Columbus, Georgia.

The new 50,000 square-foot facility in the Corporate Ridge Business Park will be ready in the summer of 2017 at which time HK will consolidate its New Hampshire operations into Columbus.

HK-USA worked closely with the Georgia Department of Economic Development, the Greater Columbus Georgia Chamber of Commerce and the Development Authority of Columbus prior to making the decision that is expected to create 84 new jobs over the next 2 years.
