Can a striker-fired, metal-frame pistol be successful on the global markets in 2022? Smith & Wesson says yes!

The new Smith & Wesson M&P M2.0 Metal 9mm Luger semi-automatic pistol – the latest entry in the Company's M&P M2.0 line of striker-fired pistols – marks a sharp departure from the standards of the series by doing without the polymer.

The differences between the new M&P M2.0 Metal and the other variants in the line are all in the frame, which in this case is CNC-machined out of a solid billet of 7075-T6 lightweight aluminum alloy frame, in all its details, down to the integral MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny railed dust cover for accessories.

Everything else – from the controls configuration to the components and accessories – remains the same: the new Smith & Wesson M&P M2.0 Metal pistol is compatible with numerous parts from the previous variants, and features the same 18-degrees angle grip.

The M&P M2.0 Metal pistol is also fully compatible with the baseline models' textured front straps and palmswells, and feeds through the same 17+1 rounds double-stack detachable magazines. The striker-fired trigger group features an enhanced sear for lighter, crisper trigger let-off and a flat-face trigger with integral safety; there's no frame-mounted manual safety.

The steel slide features a set of front and rear slide serrations and dovetailed three-dot sights, and comes with an integral machined C.O.R.E. optics interface that will accept a broad range of popular micro red dot sights.

Both the steel slide and the alloy frame feature a fascinating tungsten grey Cerakote finish. A low barrel bore axis makes the M&P M2.0 Metal pistol comfortable to shoot, reducing muzzle rise and allowing for faster aim recovery; Smith & Wesson's patented take-down lever and sear deactivation systems allow for disassembly without pulling the trigger.

The Smith & Wesson M&P M2.0 Metal pistol stands in at 188 mm / 7.4" overall, and features a 108 mm / 4.¼" stainless steel, Armornite-finished barrel with six right-hand grooves and a 1:10" twist rate. Weighing in at approximately 850 grams (30 oz), the M&P M2.0 Metal is approximately 5 oz heavier than its polymer-frame counterpart.

The Smith & Wesson M&P M2.0 Metal pistol is available on the US market at a suggested retail price of $899.00, and is already being distributed on some export markets. For further information concerning availability and pricing in your Country, consult your local Smith & Wesson distributor.
