Smith & Wesson Equalizer: a new concealed carry pistol!

Brand new for late 2022, the Smith & Wesson Equalizer 9mm Luger semi-automatic pistol is the latest micro-compact concealed carry pistol to graze the north American market.

Elaborating on Smith & Wesson's already well known and vastly popular Shield EZ line of pistols, the Equalizer features a single-action only trigger, and internal hammer (not a striker-fired design here!), and is built around a black reinforced polymer frame with a slip-proof textured grip and a MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny rail for tactical accessories.

Available either with or without an ambidextrous frame-mounted manual safety, the new Smith & Wesson Equalizer features the Shield EZ's signature high-profile grip safety, which can be disengaged only by adopting a proper firm, high grip on the gun, keeping the shooter's hand more in line with the bore axis for better shooting control.

The new Smith & Wesson Equalizer also features the EZ-Rack slide system, which makes the slide lighter, easier and more comfortable to arm manually: a great choice for smaller, weaker-handed shooters or for those who are used to carry their sidearm without a round in chamber.

A clean, crisp single-action trigger with short reset and a 18-degrees grip inclination help with quick follow-up shots and improve controllability.

The machined stainless steel slide with matte black Armornite finish found on the new Smith & Wesson Equalizer comes from factory with wide front and rear cocking serrations; a set of three-dot iron sights; and a protected cut for the installation of micro red dot sights through mounting plates.

Like the Shield EZ series pistols, the new Smith & Wesson Equalizer can be field-stripped without pulling the trigger.

The new Smith & Wesson Equalizer stands at 17,1 cm / 6.75" in overall length, features a black Armornite-finished stainless steel 9,3 cm / 3.675" barrel with a 1:10" twist rate, and feeds through double-stack metal magazines with polymer floorplates and followers, offering an overall capacity of ten, thirteen or fifteen rounds in 9mm Luger.

This not only allows the Smith & Wesson Equalizer to comply with numerous local bylaws and regulations concerning magazine capacity, but provides additional versatility and effortless, printless carry to its users, who will be able to choose between higher capacity and lower profile. For even further convenience, the Smith & Wesson Equalizer is compatible with Smith & Wesson's own, Shield Plus pistols magazines.

Weighing in at approximately 649 grams (22.9 oz) with a 13-rounds magazine, the Smith & Wesson Equalizer is currently distributed on the US market at a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $599,00. For information concerning availability and pricing outside of the US, please reach out to your national authorized Smith & Wesson importer.
