The LCP II pocket pistol is Ruger's latest new market entry for late 2016. Exactly eight years after the first "Lightweight Compact Pistol" was launched in 2008 – marking the start of Ruger's path towards innovation after years of stagnancy.

With the LCP II, Ruger fixes some of the best known deficiencies in its top-selling .380 caliber pocket pistol that has since been one of America's (and the world's) best choices for concealed carry license holders. Using the words of Ruger's new President and COO Chris Kilroy, the LCP II pistol is another fine example of Ruger’s product innovation and dedication to continuous improvement of a popular product line.

The Ruger LCP II is immediately distinguishable from the baseline model by the redesigned overall line, grip stippling and slide serrations. Now offering a short and crisp single-action trigger with inner trigger safety, the Ruger LCP II also features improved sights for superior visibility, a larger grip surface for better distribution of recoil forces and an easy-to-rack slide with an improved slide stop mechanism with a last round hold-open device which – was nowhere to be seen on the first production LCP model.

Barely 13,1 cm (5.17") long and 9,4 cm (3.71") tall, Ruger's new LCP II pocket pistol weighs barely 300 grams (10.6 oz.) when empty, and comes issued with a factory pocket holster – although it's designed to fit a variety of holsters and concealed carry options.

The Ruger LCP II ships with one single sheet metal magazine with a polymer floorplate, holding six rounds of .380 ACP ammunition. The original six-rounds magazines of the first-generation LCP pistol will indeed work with the LCP II, but will not activate its last round hold-open feature; seven-rounds LCP pistol magazines will not fit the LCP II.
