CZ USA Scorpion 3+ Micro: the modern civilian-grade personal defense weapon, revisited
CZ USA introduces a new variant of the Scorpion EVO system: the Scorpion 3+ Micro semi-automatic pistol. With upgraded sights, redesigned bolt catch and mag release, an improved grip, and much more, the 3+ Micro is the most advanced generation of the Scorpion EVO design yet
CZ's Scorpion EVO weapon system gets a new upgrade: freshly announced in the US market, the CZ Scorpion 3+ Micro 9mm Luger semi-automatic pistol revisits what is probably the most successful PCC and SMG platform of the past decade with a compact and effective version specifically conceived for the civilian market.
Aside from standard range shooting and competition, the CZ USA Scorpion 3+ Micro semi-automatic pistol aims to become a market staple for personal defense, as well as for professional operators working in sectors such as private security or close protection that are restricted by law from accessing select-fire weapons, but in need for compact sized firearms, concealable, maneuverable in close quarters and packed with a high level of firepower.
CZ USA's new Scorpion 3+ Micro pistol stems from what other third-party and aftermarket brands did with their accessories to the original design, and is significantly shorter than the EVO 3-S1 and EVO 3-P1, standing at 371 mm / 14.63" in overall length while sporting a 10,66 cm / 4.2" barrel with a conic micro flash hider affixed to the 1/2x28 muzzle threads.
The Scorpion 3+ Micro pistol retains the same working system as all other semi-automatic, civilian-grade variants of the platform, but is built on a shortened receiver and features a shorter polymer (not aluminum) handguard that does without the standard integral MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny rails, opting instead for a set of M-LOK cuts. The charging handle is reversible for left-handed and right-handed operation.
The new Scorpion 3+ Micro pistol also features a redesigned, more ergonomic grip, with slip-proof surfaces on both sides, a ribbed front strap, and a set of interchangeable, ribbed backstraps making the pistol comfortable to use by both large-handed and small-handed shooters. An integral, full-length Picatinny rail hosts a set of CZ's own, aluminum sights – more specifically, a fixed front post and an adjustable four-aperture rear sight.
The sights are updated to deliver lower 1/3 cowitnessing with most red dot or reflex sights currently available. Alternatively, they can be removed and replaced with any Picatinny-compatible back-up sights or optics.
Just like all other variants of the platform, the CZ USA Scorpion 3+ Micro features a fixed trip attached to the top received, and a removable trigger group assembly that allows the shooter to field-strip the weapon by removing the bolt assembly from a bottom slot.
The trigger group and magazine well assembly has been modified, allowing the CZ USA Scorpion 3+ Micro pistol to offer an AR-15 type ambidextrous magazine release catch. Each Scorpion 3+ Micro comes issued with two 20-rounds double-stack magazines, which have been improved from the original; both the pistol and the magazines, however, remain backwards-compatible with all previous generations of the Scorpion EVO.
The CZ USA Scorpion 3+ Micro pistol features an ambidextrous manual safety and an ambidextrous, index-activated bolt catch located underneath the trigger guard.
Standing at 2,1 kilograms (4.7 lbs) when empty, the CZ Scorpion 3+ Micro pistol also features a QD pocket included on the removable end cap – which can be removed and replaced with any Scorpion EVO compatible buttstock, armbrace, or stock interface in compliance with local laws and regulations.
Manufacurer's suggested retail price for the CZ USA Scorpion 3+ Micro semi-automatic pistol is set at $1,299.00 in the United States.
