Steiner introduces the MPS Micro Pistol Sight, a ruggedized micro red dot sight for handguns featuring a full-metal, reinforced fully-enclosed construction for the highest level of resistance against shocks and elements in this category
The Steiner MPS Micro Pistol Sight – recently announced by the German-based company that has been part of the Beretta Holding since 2008 – is a brand new handgun red dot sight that can be considered a small-sized counterpart of Steiner's own DRS sight.
While just slightly larger than the Steiner MRS Micro Reflex Sight, the new Steiner MPS Micro Pistol Sight is one of the sturdiest micro red dot sights for handguns currently available on the market, thanks to the full-metal, fully-enclosed construction with enhanced sidewalls to completely seal the emitter and other sensitive components from shocks, water, and other potentially harmful elements.
Featuring a 20x16mm (.78x.83") objective lens and a 21x16mm (.63x.83") recessed window – all multi-coated to enhance image clarity and to protect the glass elements from scratches, fogging, and other threats – the Steiner MPS offers a wide field of view, remains parallax-free from 10 to 150 meters (11 to 164 yards), and features a fast-aligning, bright and very visible 3.3 MOA center dot.
The Steiner MPS Micro Pistol Sight is extremely easy to operate: a set of buttons on the left side allows the user to navigate between eight different brightness levels for the center dot, two of which are NVG-compatible.
The Steiner MPS doesn't offer a motion-sensing auto-on feature, but an auto-off timer can be manually activated to shut down the center dot after 13 hours of continuous use.
The Steiner MPS is powered by a single, commercial CR1632 battery; the battery seat is located on top of the sight, allowing users to replace it without having to remove the MPS from their firearm and requiring no re-zeroing after replacement.
The elevation adjustment dial is located right behind the battery compartment lid, while the drift adjustment dial is located on the right side; the illuminated dot can be adjusted on a 70 MOA range for both windage and elevation. Both dials feature 1-MOA clicks and are slightly recessed for protection against accidental handling.
The Steiner MPS Micro Pistol Sight is barely 5,51 cm (2.17") long overall and weighs in at 58 grams (2.05 oz); as short as it is, the Steiner MPS Micro Pistol Sight prevents the shooter to develop any level of tunnel vision, making sure that situational awareness on his or her surroundings is maintained at any time.
Depending on the selected level of brightness, the Steiner MPS Micro Pistol Sight will operate for 18.000 continuous hours with a single CR1632 battery – one of the longest battery life levels in its category.
The Steiner MPS Micro Pistol Sight also features a modular interface bracket, allowing installation on the vast majority of mounting plates, such as Docter, Aimpoint ACRO, or other popular options currently available on the market.
The Steiner MPS Micro Pistol Sight is currently available only in black; the manufacturer's suggested retail price for the US market is set at $574.99. The Steiner MPS is covered by the Steiner Heritage lifetime warranty in the United States and Canada
