The first foray of Ruger Firearms in the field of optical sights confirms the Company's dedication to the concealed carry, personal defense and property protection markets, which have been its driving force for many years now.

Officially launched on the US market on April 11, 2023, the Ruger ReadyDot micro red dot sight has been conceived for the ground up as an accessory for concealed carry, personal defense and home protection pistols such as Ruger's own MAX-9 – which is, indeed, already available in a brand new version with a factory-issued ReadyDot sight.

The Ruger ReadyDot is essential in construction and operation: its body is manufactured out of black synthetic and the 12mm lens is made of impact resistant, optical grade polymer with a multi-layer coating. Ruger's ReadyDot does without battery power and electronics, opting instead for a top-mounted red fiber-optic insert that captures envorinmental light to illuminate the center dot, also providing automatic brightness adjustment based on ambient conditions.

Such solution is used on ACOG sights and other magnified prism sights with an etched reticle, which the Ruger ReadyDot doesn't have. The extremely wide – 15 MOA – center dot of the Ruger ReadyDot is brightened solely by the fiber-optic insert, and is completely fixed, as in, it can not be adjusted for windage or elevation.

Unlike other micro red dot sights available on the global markets, the Ruger ReadyDot was not conceived to be a finely tunable aiming system for tactical operations, but an intuitive aid for close-range defense with sub-compact or micro-compact handguns.

Standing in at barely 4 cm / 1.6" in length and appriximately 2,2 cm / 0.9" in both height and width, the Ruger ReadyDot is made to offer full, fixed cowitnessing with iron sights and to be parallax-free at 10 yards, or 9,1 meters approx. – which is the top extreme range for the vast majority of defensive engagements that a civilian my find himself (or herself) into.

Weighing in at just 8,5 grams (0.3 ounces), Ruger's ReadyDot fits pistols and mounting plates designed for Shield RMSc footprint and comes from factory with two M4 x 0.7 8mm screws and a T10 Torx wrench for mounting.

This means that the ReadyDot is compatible with a plethora of optics-ready slides and optics mounts, making it usable on numerous handguns out there – not just the diminutive Ruger MAX-9.

The Ruger ReadyDot micro reflex sight is already available on Ruger's on-line shop at a MSRP of $99.95 for the US market; due to ITAR restrictions and other US laws and regulations concerning export of optical sights for firearms, however, the Ruger shop will not ship outside of the US.
