From a brand new line of magnifiers to a series of mounts dedicated to its most famous red dot sights, Aimpoint has many interesting new entries in its catalogue this year
Aimpoint AB – the Malmö (Sweden) based company known for its global leadership position in red dot aiming technologies - is expanding its product catalogue this year with an interesting line of new accessories that will complement its already vast offering of high-end red dot aiming devices for both civilian and professional purposes.
In addition to three image magnifiers - first showcased in their prototype stage at the 2016 SHOT Show in Las Vegas - Aimpoint now offers a line of dedicated mounts for the magnifiers themselves and for some of its most successful gunsights: the 30mm Comp C3 and the small-sized Micro H-2.
The new Aimpoint magnifiers: 3X-C, 3XMag-1 and 6XMag
The new Aimpoint 3X-C was developed for the civilian end user, and can be used in conjunction with all Aimpoint sights for long-range aiming or observation. A variable (-2 to +2) dioptric setting allows this magnifier to be adapted to the individual shooter’s eye.
The Aimpoint 3XMag-1 and 6XMag have instead been developed for professional operators - the latter one being specifically developed to be used in conjunction with the Micro T-2 red dot sight. None of the Aimpoint magnifier requires a battery to operate; all are NVD-compatible, and offer a 75% photopic, integral light transmission level.
Aimpoint magnifiers utilize the red dot in Aimpoint sights as the aiming reticle, eliminating the need for re-zeroing when shifting between non-magnified and magnified aiming. They can also be used as handheld monoculars, and are encased in a shock absorbing protective rubber cover that also creates an ideal ergonomic grip. Internal optical adjustments make aligning the magnifier and sight quick and easy.
New dedicated mounts for Aimpoint sights
New for 2016 from Aimpoint is also a full line of mounts dedicated to the 2X-C, 3XMag-1 and 6XMag magnifiers, as well as to some of the Company's own, most popular red dot sights.
More specifically, the Aimpoint FlipMount is a quick attach/detach mount that can be quickly flipped in or out of the optical axis; it is designed primarily for use with Aimpoint magnifiers, but can also be used to mount other optical equipment with a 30mm tube, and is offered in two different heights - 38.5 mm (1.5”) for HK416 platforms and 47.5 mm (1.9”) for AR15/M4-type carbines - to accommodate various sight mounts.
The Aimpoint TwistMount is instead a complete quick release mount also compatible - among others - with the earlier 3XMag and with the CEU concealed engagement unit. Compatible with any MIL-STD-1913 (Picatinny) rail, it will fit through a screw and is issued with an Allen key.
The rifle mount is compatible with popular autoloading centerfire hunting rifles such as the Browning BAR and Maral, the Winchester SXR or the Benelli ARGO, and attach directly to the action. The shotgun mount will instead fit on 10.7-12.7mm dovetails by a couple of anchor points. As all aimpoint products, the mounts are extremely rugged, and high quality for durability and resistance to recoil stress. They can be purchased separately or as a set with the CompC3 2MOA red dot sight.
Finally, facing with the ever-increasing popularity of the Aimpoint Micro H-2 small-sized red dot sights, Aimpoint released a line of dedicated mounts that will allow its use on a plethora of civilian or professional-grade firearms.
Variants of the mount system for the Aimpoint Micro H-2 small-sized red dot sight include a version compatible with the popular Leupold QR (Quick Release) system and with the SAKO Optilock mount, a quick-release system for SAKO 85 bolt-action hunting rifles; general-purpose mounts for the most popular semi-automatic hunting rifles and semi-automatic shotguns; and dedicated mounting platforms for the Tikka T3 and Sauer 404 rifles. All the versions are available as a factory-issued accessory for the Aimpoint Micro H-2 or sold separately.
