Innovation in firearms has greatly evolved ever since the first man learned how to throw a stone. Nonetheless, innovation has been remarkably faster with optics; after all, it wasn’t until around 1840 that the world saw its first riflescope.

Fortunately, firearm and optic technology innovation nowadays is able to provide us top accuracy, even at extreme distances, without emptying our wallets. Sightmark’s new Citadel line of riflescope is a great example of the state of the industry, offering performance and reliability at an affordable price.

The Sightmark Citadel 1-6x24 CR1 combines impressive performance with a stealthy appearance, offering a wide magnification range for close to mid-range shooting.

Designed with real shooters in mind, the Citadel 1-6x features a second focal plane BDC reticle calibrated for 55gr 5.56/.223, red reticle illumination for contrast against targets and low light shooting and fully multi-coated optics.

Capped, low profile turrets protect zero and add to the Citadel’s no-nonsense, subdued appearance.

A single-piece, 30mm tube and aircraft grade aluminum construction make the Citadel extremely durable and IP67 waterproof. Ideal for a variety of firearms, including ARs and bolt actions rifles, the Citadel 1-6x24 CR1 includes flip up lens caps, a handy throw lever and one CR2032 battery.

The Sightmark Citadel 3-18x50 LR2 and Citadel 5-30x56 LR2 first-focal-plane riflescopes are the long-range-dedicated entries in the line, with 1000-meters capability and well-beyond that thanks to Sightmark’s own LR2 MRAD reticle with Milliradian subtension lines and a lower reference grid for holdovers. Both scopes provide parallax adjustability, adjustable locking diopters, pop-up locking turrets and perfectly tracking .1-Mil per click windage and elevation adjustability.

In terms of reliability, all Citadel scopes are nitrogen-purged, dustproof, shockproof, fogproof and waterproof-rated to withstand complete submersion in one meter of water for up to 30 minutes.

The fine-etched reticles (CR1 on the 1-6x24 and LR2 on both long-range optics) are illuminated in red and are designed to minimize visual obstruction of critical target areas – while hunting, for example - even at high magnification, making any of the three a great hunting scope alternative for European varmints and game animals alike.

The Citadel riflescopes have been designed to grant performance and reliability, with different needs in mind – from close-quarters engagement to long-range shooting, target shooting or hunting. That is why three models, fitting different purposes.

In recent years, the clear distinction between riflescopes specifically designed for “target shooting” or for “hunting” has often got quite faded contours, especially for mid-priced product families like this new one Sightmark Citadel series.

But after all, popular “sport shooting” means exactly this: the possibility to move from one conceptual ground to another, from target shooting to hunting, knowing that the riflescope we have will fit anyway. The new Sightmark Citadel series is intended to achieve this.
