Among the most interesting 2017 novelties from Extrema Ratio there is the Mamba, a fixed blade knife with a quite original design
The Extrema Ratio Mamba is a fixed blade, multipurpose knife, designed for security operators who need a light and compact blade, yet maintaining the cut and perforation abilities typical of larger blades.
The Extrema Ratio Mamba features a Böhler N690 steel blade hardened at 58 HRC. The blade is 116mm/4.56” long and 4mm/0,15” thick, with two wide and deep side grooves extending almost for the full blade lenght. The blade profile is a modified Tanto with a flat grind.
The blade is available with a “Stone Washed” finish or the classic Extrema Ratio MIL-C-13924 black: in this case the knife’s name is “Black Mamba”.
The knife overall weight is just 85g/2.99oz., less than many other pocket/folding knives.
Even if maintaining the unique Extrema Ratio design, the Forprene handle has been narrowed, but without depriving it of its much-appreciated ergonomics.
Being a knife designed and intended for professional use, high relevance has been assigned to ease of carry, access and extraction in case of need. When at rest, a reliable quick release system securely locks the knife inside the sheath.
The thermoplastic Kydex sheath is very thin and can be easily mounted on the M.O.L.L.E. system of a tactical vest, a backpack or any other equipment, thanks to two sliding and adjustable clips.
The sheath features several apertures preventing moisture condensation, thus protecting the blade finish.
To extract the Mamba knife from its sheath you just have to push on the small quick release lever placed at its mouth. This system allows to carry the Mamba on a tactical vest or on the shoulder straps of a backpack, handle down, without any risk of accidental extraction from the sheath itself.
