Illinois-based, family-owned Pro-Shot Products turns 35 this year, and still solidly retains its leadership position in the field of gun cleaning and maintenance supplies with top quality and innovation... entirely Made in America!
Thirty-five years have passed since John E. Damarin founded, in 1982, the Pro-Shot Products, Inc. in his home town of Taylorville (Illinois, U.S.A.).
According to the recounts of John Damarin – current CEO of Pro-Shot Products and son of the founder, who passed away in 2002 – the idea behind the company spawned from the Damarins' favourite family activity: shooting. John E. Damarin was a very avid marksman, and would often bring his son with him shooting most every shooting genre and event he could find to compete in around Illinois and the Midwest.
John Damarin vividly recalls:
«I remember as a young child around the fall of 1981, my father talking about our shooting buddy. He had got a plastic patch holder stuck in the bore of his gun when cleaning his firearm during a match between rounds. Then he told me how he had to heat the gun over the stove to get the patch holder out once he returned home». That’s when he told me, “Son, we can make gun cleaning accessories better than that.”
So began my Father and me working on making our first gun cleaning products. We started in our small one car garage, Pro-Shot was born.»
Ever since its establishment, the Pro-Shot company manufactures all of its products entirely in the United States. Despite being a family-run business, neither big not well-known as some of its most famous competitors, Pro-Shot Products proudly carries on John E. Damarin's heritage, tradition, and challenge: make quality firearms cleaning accessories that work faster and easier. Every product from Pro-Shot offers – quote on quote – a distinguished quality advantage over anything else on the market.
And the high attention towards quality and customer service allowed the Pro-Shot Products line to conquer a well-deserved place in the minds of hunters, sport shooters, military and law enforcement operators around the globe.
The Pro-Shot product line can currently be divided in fifteen sections, each offering high quality along with effectiveness and ease of use: there's no reason to offer the world's best product if it turns out to be too difficult for the customer to master properly.
Most recently, Pro-Shot Products launched a dedicated Military/Government sales line, which includes a series of cleaning kit dedicated to tactical equipment and firearms.
And yet, its commercial products line remains well established, including top sellers such as black powder cleaning products, bore cleaners and lubricants, dedicated shotgun cleaning products and an extensive line of specialty cloths to be used on different materials to maximize results while reducing the risk of damage to finishes or engravings.
Among the Company's most classic products are an extensive line of jags, mops and patch holders, cleaning rods and bore guides; Pro-Shot Products also offers a line of cleaning patches, cleaning brushes, action and chamber cleaning tools and many other pieces of cleaning equipment.
Pro-Shot Products first launched its line of full cleaning kits in 2004, and now it includes well-established top sellers such as the Premium Classic Box Kits, the Tactical Soft Case Kits and the Classic Tube Kits.
Among the newest entries in the Pro-Shot Products catalogue not specifically dedicated to gun cleaning and maintenance are a line of displays for firearms and accessories, to be used by gun shops as well as by collectors or exhibitors during trade shows.
New as well are the company's UV Bore Lights, which dub as a clear chamber indicator at the range and can will use ambient or natural light to illuminate the bore and chamber of any firearm, allowing a quick and safe check for cleaning or wear.
Last, but not least, Pro-Shot's Splattershot adhesive targets offer a plethora of alternatives for competition and recreational shooters alike to choose from, they provide positive high-visibility confirmation of the point of impact, and are compatible with the company's own splatter pasters.
To some people, the Pro-Shot Products brand may be less famous than, to say, the OTIS Technology name or other older competitors – particularly for the average shooter outside of the United States – but the quality and reliablity of their products is in front of your eyes.
Concerning guns, cleaning, maintenance and field use, we at GUNSweek.com have at least the same experience of Pro-Shot Products, and: we are not saying that what other brands do is not worth your attention. Of course not. Simply, we wanted to point out that what Pro-Shot Products does, is at top of the line.
Use Pro-Shot once, and you will become a Pro-Shot fan for life
