First showcased at the 2017 edition of the SHOT Show, the revolutionary MantisX firearms training system has recently been upgraded with a wide range of add-ons that make it even more efficient and versatile

Back in February, shortly after the 2017 edition of the SHOT Show, we reported about the revolutionary MantisX Firearms Training System – a revolutionary training system that can be easily installed and used on any handgun or long gun, be it a firearm or an airgun, as long as it features a Picatinny rail interface.

The centerpiece of the MantisX is a battery-powered sensor – rechargeable through a USB port – to be attached on the firearm; when the gun is handled and fired, the sensor measures and memorizes the movements of the firearm on a hypothetical cartesian plane.

The MantisX system will record and analyze every shot and the movement of the firearm upon trigger pressure, assigning a score to every shot depending from its shift from the original firing position.

At the end of every shooting session, the sensor can be connected via Bluetooth to any iOS or Android-based handheld device thanks to a proprietary application. The shooter will then be able to sort and process his or her results depending from the shot placement and the movement of the firearm between and during each shot.

The advantages of the MantisX system and its potential are unlimited: it can be used for blank training, it will keep tabs on performance overtime and allow shooters to hone their shooting mechanics by following the system's data-driven suggestions. It will allow shooting instructors to manage their trainees more efficiently, offering more specific and personalized coaching; and shooters will have access to hard data to see and understand what they are doing right and what they're doing wrong.

Last, but not least, the MantisX system will allow law enforcement, military, private security personnel and other professionals to develop and maintain the necessary marksmanship skills. Just months after its first launch, the MantisX system already enjoys a substantial success on the U.S. market.

Recently, the manufacturing company announced that the MantisX system has been submitted to a series of important upgrades aimed at improving its versatility and flexibility. The features of the MantisX systems are being continually updated on all platforms, in order to provide a consistent and solid training experience for all civilian and professional users.

Probably the most important new feature of the MantisX system centers around the launch of train.mantisx.com – a dedicated website that also dubs as a cloud platform, allowing users to upload their data and review them on their desktop or laptop computer, as well as to share them and compare them with those of other shooters, with features such data export and portability, session sorting and filtering capabilities, new visualizations, access to session data from other shooters for comparison, and much more.

Plus, since shooting is not just a static exercise – particularly when it comes to tactical or practical shooting, defensive shooting, IPSC or USPSA disciplines, and so much more – various training modes and drills have been added to the app and the new training portal to take the MantisX training experience to the next level.

Offering several reload and mag change drills, compressed surprise break drills and the MantisX' own Benchmark drill, this function also includes a shot timer, which currently works for split >¼ seconds for outstanding accuracy.

Other features and functions are likely to be added soon. The MantisX sensor is perfectly capable to handle any further functionality and option that the company will want to add to the MantisX app and website in the foreseeable future, so that shooters will not have to purchase a new bundle altogether to keep up with technology innovation.
